We hope you and your players are in great shape for playing the scenario anthology about the Emperor's proud empire. What's on the menu about the province Middenland, is a light thing:

Four hungry lads in the dark forest of Drakwald, searching for the legendary Slaaraphenland. Temptations and easy solutions await them. A nauseating comedy for four players and a gamemaster - with a unique cake mechanic.

Background story: Nebelheim, a town in need

On the outskirts of the dark forest Drakwald is a little town named Nebelheim. In about about the town live more than a hundred souls that live off the land. Nebelheim was never rich but once upon a time you could have called it well-supplied. That was before the harvest failed four times in a row. Now it is spring, and the food reserves of the town are coming to an end.

The hunger gnaws at the town's inhabitants, among them the four main characters of this little story, they boys Klaus, Christof, Andreas, and Martin. But now the friends have resolved to do something about it. Armed with a magical map Christof leads his friends into Drakwald on a quest for Slaaraphenland.

The legend of Slaaraphenland

Middenland's great forest Drakwald is hemmed in by much mystery and stories. All the kids' favorite is the one about the hunter who lost his way. He was about to give up hope when he deep in the forest happened upon a clearing, where sweet music and smells of goodies bade him welcome. Dancing ladies and attentive servants welcomed him to Slaaraphenland, where everything good was for free. He was given cake and steak, sauce and wine, and when we got tired he was shown to the loveliest bed of goose-feathers. The next day he awoke, fresh and rested, and the servants handed him a big lunch package and followed him to a place he knew in the forest.

Most sensible people blow this off as a good story, but who can say they've never dreamt about a place like Slaaraphenland?

The truth about Slaaraphenland

You guessed right. Slaarapenhaldn is in Drakwald, but it is only a paradise on the surface. Beneath the surface it is hell on Earth. The Chaos God Slaanesh' tempting, sensual, and grotesque hell.

The short story is about four boys, each with certain weaknesses and lusts, that make them all easy victims for Slaanesh. Christof is a liar whose magical map is a folded piece of paper. Klaus is a sanctimonious randy priestling, who exploits his status as dean to see young girls' tits. Andreas is a cuckolded coward. And finally, Martin, who is ambitious, and completely without scruples. But they are also only hungry young men, who can't wait to have that which they each desire.

Structure and play style

The short story is quite linear, and consists of eight short scenes and a final scene. In each scene they boys are tempted to do bad things by letting their own needs win out over common good morality. The more the boys give in to temptation, the more Slaanesh manifests, and lures sthe friends into her/her/its kingdom.

Finally the foursome arrives at Slaaraphenland, but when the euphoria upon getting there has calmed down, it dawns on the boys that something is all wrong about their paradise. But, only those that are not already fallen to Chaos are allowed the opportunity to get out alive.

If there characters try to turn back during their travels, they'll understand that they've lost their way. They've already come so far out into the forest that they don't know they way, and whatever course of action they take, Drakwals will pull them relentlessly toward Slaaraphenland.

Cake mechanics

To track the individual fall or the boys, the short story has a simple little mechanic. You are to hand out to each player a delicious mazarin cake, cut in six parts. Each time the character gives in to temptation to do the immoral thing in a scene, the player must eat a piece of the cake. It might be important to point out that there are no exemptions, excuses, or getting away from this: the piece is to be eaten!

In each scene there is a temptation,. If a player has eaten all of their cake when you reach the finale, the character can not be redeemed or saved, and must forever serve Slaanesh. The players who have not eaten all of their cake, have the possibility to get away, but it won't be easy. Each player may eat one piece of the cake per scene.

Slaanesh - the god and his influence

I warhammerverdenen trues alle dødelige racers liv og mentale helbred af fire frygtelige urguder, kaosguderne. Hver er kaosguderne har sit domæne, sit område, som på overfladen kan virke tiltrækkende, men kun fører til afgrunden. Slaanesh er guden for kødets fristelser, med alt hvad der dertil hører af begær, fråseri og dekadance. Slaanesh er en mester i at lokke svage sjæle. Guden starter i det uskyldige med små fristelser, som efterfølges af mere og mere absurde og outrerede lyksagligheder, der driver ofret længere og længere fra det normale og mere og mere ind i gudens sindsyge univers af uhæmmet og ubunden lyst. Slaanesh ynder at skænke sine tilbedere mutationer, og foretrækker ændringer knyttet til køn og begær. Gudens foretrukne tjenere ses tit med gedebukkehorn og –klove samt bryster. Gerne samtidig – Slaanesh er meget glad for det androgyne.

I spil udfordrer Slaanesh drengenes moral ved gentagende fristelser som kulminerer i Slaaraphenland. Hvert gang drengene bider på krogen, kommer de lidt mere i Slaanesh’ magt. Rent praktisk betyder det at hver gang spillerne spiser et stykke kage, skal du lade dem føle gudens nærhed mere og mere.

Efter første stykke – smager alting lidt bedre, og i det hele taget er spilpersonen blevet mere sanselig. Gør meget ud af at beskrive forskellige sanseindtryk, især knyttet til smag.

Efter andet stykke - bliver det nemmere for Slaanesh at fremhæve sine gaver. Gentag og uddyb hvor lækker Frühstückkurven, pandekagerne osv. ser ud for de spillere, som er på vej i armene på Slaanesh.

Efter tredje stykke – begynder Slaanesh at kunne påvirke mere end drengenes sanser. Nu puster han til deres sult og begær. Du skal påpege hvor sultne drengene er, hvor meget deres tænder løber i vand osv.

Efter fjerde stykke – får Slaanesh også magt over drengenes sind. Drengenes bevidsthed er ikke længere alene deres egen. Du kan nu begynde at hviske i spillernes ører. Fremhæv de lette løsninger, spil på drengenes komplekser i forhold til deres venner, og lad stemmen fortælle om de andres egoistiske planer.

Efter femte stykke – er der ingen vej tilbage. Slaanesh har nu fået en ny tjener også selvom det ikke er gået op for drengen selv. Slaanesh kan nu udøve sine bedrag igennem drengen, og disse bedrag kan tage de mest fantastiske former. Pludselig er Christofs kort magisk, Andreas frygtløs og umeneskelig stærk osv., hvis det passer i Kaos’ kram.

Efter sjette stykke – hensynker drengen i lyksalig apati. Han er blevet doven og dvask, og ønsker intet andet end at sidde i græsset og slå mave indtil han er sulten igen. Han vil ikke længere ønske at komme hjem igen, og vil være helt umulig at tale til fornuft.

I finalen er det også væsentligt hvor mange stykker kage der er blevet spist. Hvis en spiller højst har spist et enkelt stykke er hans spilperson stadig frisk og klar, og må handle frit. Han kan måske endda hjælpe en ven i nød. Hvis en spiller har spist to eller tre stykker er hans spilperson blevet lidt for veltilfreds og søvnig, og han skal ikke foretage mange svinkeærinder før han bliver fanget. Hvis en spiller har spist fire eller fem stykker har Slaanesh fået så meget magt over spilpersonens sind, at det bliver stort set umuligt for ham at slippe væk, i hvert fald uden hjælp fra de andre. Hvis en spiller har spist alle seks stykker ønsker hans spilperson slet ikke at flygte.

Ydre korruption bliver også mere og mere tydelig i scenariet, uanset spillernes indtag af kage. I den første halvdel af scenariet er en enkelt antydning af noget unaturligt fint, i den anden halvdel må der godt komme noget tydeligt i næsten hver scene. I finalen er der mutationer til alle!
